    The Department of Geography at Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College hosted a special lecture by Prof. Anu Kapur from the Delhi School of Economics. She offered an inspiring overview of geography’s evolving relevance, career scope, and practical impact. Prof. Kapur emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of the field, highlighting roles in academia, planning, disaster management, and environmental studies. She stressed the increasing demand for GIS and remote sensing skills. Real-world applications in market research, tourism, and management were also discussed. A key moment was her sharing of AURA: University of Delhi at 100, a centenary book launched by PM Modi. The lecture motivated students to strengthen both technical and communication skills. Prof. Kapur’s insights left a lasting impression on all attendees.

  • Applications of Remote Sensing and GIS

    The Department of Geography conducted a workshop on the transformative applications of Remote Sensing and GIS, guided by Dr. Tulika Sanadhya, Vipin Chandra Lal and Dr. Tara Shanker. The event featured three sessions by eminent experts, showcasing how geospatial technologies address environmental and urban issues.

    In Session 1, Mr. Peeyush Gupta from the National Mission for Clean Ganga highlighted the use of RS and GIS in pollution monitoring, habitat mapping, and resource management for Ganga conservation.

    Session 2 featured Dr. Rakesh Arya from CSRD, JNU, who emphasized GIS's role in spatial planning and data analysis across various sectors.

    In Session 3, Prof. Atiqur Rehman from Jamia Millia Islamia discussed the use of remote sensing in studying urban heat islands and climate resilience. The workshop successfully inspired participants to apply geospatial tools for sustainable development. The department expressed sincere thanks to all speakers and organizers for their contributions.

  • Field Visit :- Udaipur, Phanda, Chittorgarh, and Kumbhalgarh

    Field Trip: 5th Semester (29 Sep. 2024 To 1 Oct. 2024)
    Department of Geography, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, University of Delhi

    Day 1: Udaipur
    The trip began in Udaipur with a visit to Lake Pichola, where students observed pollution concerns and discussed sustainable tourism. They also explored Karni Mata Temple, gaining cultural and spiritual insights.

    Day 2: Phanda
    In Phanda, students studied rural socio-economic conditions, including crop patterns, health infrastructure gaps, gender inequality, and the prevalence of child labour among tribal populations.

    Day 3: Chittorgarh Fort
    The group explored the UNESCO-listed Chittorgarh Fort, learning about Rajput history, architecture, and resilience through the site’s vast and symbolic structures.

    Day 4: Kumbhalgarh Fort & Kanunja Village
    At Kumbhalgarh, students admired the 38-km-long wall and heritage of Maharana Pratap. In Kanunja, they examined social challenges like child marriage and persistent open defecation despite ODF+ status.

    Day 5: City Palace, Udaipur
    The trip concluded with a visit to the City Palace, a symbol of Mewar’s royal legacy, showcasing architectural excellence and centuries of historical development.

    Overall, the field trip combined geography, sociology, and heritage, offering an insightful interdisciplinary learning experience.

  • Chronic Health Issues & Cure through Natural Health Science

    The Department of Geography organized an insightful online session titled “Chronic Health Issues & Cure through Natural Health Science”, presented by Dr. Arun Sharma, Director of IMANAH and recipient of the 2024 International Gandhi Award. Dr. Sharma, a global advocate for natural health sciences, shared deep insights on the roots of chronic diseases, linking them to modern lifestyle and diet. He emphasized the value of Satvik food over Rajasik and Tamasik diets for better well-being.

    The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Tulika Sanadhya and Prof. Sada Nand Prasad, highlighting the importance of health awareness. Dr. Sharma also discussed the health impacts of air pollution and stressed the need for natural health science in education. An interactive Q&A session saw enthusiastic participation, with attendees receiving practical advice on sustainable, natural living. The session inspired many to pursue healthier, nature-based lifestyles.

The session highlighted the vital role of GIS and remote sensing in the health sector, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing applications like disease tracking, contact tracing, and healthcare mapping. Dr. Tiwari discussed how geospatial technologies aid public health, disaster management, and resource planning. Real-world case studies were presented to demonstrate their impact. He also explored career opportunities in fields like healthcare, urban planning, disaster management, environment, and business analytics. The session concluded with a Q&A and practical advice on tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine. The workshop offered deep insights and encouraged students to explore careers in Geoinformatics.

Joshi emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness, discussing key incidents like the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and tools such as GIS, AI, and satellite imagery. Dr. Pankaj Kumar spoke on Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) in the Hindu Kush Himalayas, highlighting alarming climate-induced changes from 1981 to 2021. Dr. Arun Sharma promoted natural healing, encouraging practices like pranayama, raw food intake, and daily exercise for holistic health. The workshop bridged scientific knowledge and traditional wisdom, fostering a well-rounded understanding of resilience and well-being.

  • Reversing Acute and Chronic Diseases Naturally

    The Department of Geography, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, organized an enlightening session on March 25, 2025, featuring Dr. Arun Sharma, Director of the International Institute of Mahayoga & Natural Hygiene. Dr. Sharma emphasized natural healing, healthy food habits, and the power of holistic wellness. He began the session with a mantra by Adi Shankaracharya to set a spiritual tone. Stressing the importance of chewing food properly and daily physical activity, he explained how such practices can prevent many health issues. He described surgery as a failure of medicine and highlighted natural methods for treating diseases—from constipation to cancer. Dr. Sharma advocated for simple exercises like walking, even for just 15 minutes daily.

    He emphasized pranayama for mental and physical well-being and recommended including raw fruits and vegetables in the diet. The session provided practical and inspiring insights into leading a naturally healthy lifestyle.

    The Department of Geography at Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College proudly hosted its flagship Annual Fest, Bhu Chetna 2025, on April 9, centered around the timely and thought-provoking theme, “Global Healthscapes and Sustainable Futures.” The event served as an engaging platform to explore the vital interconnections between public health, environmental sustainability, and geographical awareness in today’s globalized world. The inaugural session commenced with traditional rituals and a warm welcome by Dr. Tulika Sanadhya, setting the tone for an intellectually and spiritually enriching day. A powerful keynote by Ms. Gayatri Raghwa spotlighted the rise of “green careers,” inspiring youth to become agents of ecological transformation. Mr. Harish Ranjan’s special session encouraged students to align inner healing with environmental balance. A series of themed competitions and vibrant cultural performances captured student creativity and critical thought. Strategic partnerships with Vision IAS, du_fest, and eco-friendly vendors elevated the event’s stature and outreach. The fest concluded with an emotionally resonant prize distribution and a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr. Riyazuddin.     International Conference on Health & Well-Being focal theme "Geographies of Health and Wellbeing: Creating Inclusive and Sustainable Societies in a Changing Global Scenario"

    Day- 1 (Inaugral Session)

    The conference commenced with registrations at 9:00 AM, welcoming academicians, researchers, students, and policy experts from India and abroad. The inaugural session featured traditional ceremonies and opening addresses by Convenor Prof. Md. Riyazuddin Khan and Organizing Secretary Dr. Tulika Sanadhya, who emphasized the role of geography in health and wellbeing. Prof. Sada Nand Prasad highlighted the importance of spatial inclusivity in health. Eminent guests, including Prof. Barkatullah Khan, Prof. Kaushal Kumar Sharma, and media personality Naghma Sahar, underscored the event’s interdisciplinary nature. Recorded messages from global scholars like Dr. S.K. Agarwal and Prof. K. Sathya Lakshmi lent international insight. The Plenary Session focused on “Spatial Inequality and Future Prospects in Health and Well-being,” with scholars such as Prof. S.C. Rai and Dr. Deeksha Bajpai Tewari examining health disparities and socio-environmental factors. Sports journalist G. Rajaraman added a practical viewpoint on physical fitness. Prof. Parveen K. Pathak summed up the session aptly: “Geographies of health are geographies of justice.”

    The post-lunch session (02:30 PM – 04:30 PM) featured four simultaneous technical sessions (TS1, TS2, TO1, TO2) addressing diverse sub-themes such as geospatial mapping, gender and wellness, climate-health linkages, and social media’s psychological impacts.

    Day- 2 (Intellectual Vibrancy Session)

    The second day of the International Conference on 24th April 2025 continued the dynamic intellectual energy set.
     It began with a Morning Tea session encouraging informal academic exchanges among scholars and delegates.
    The keynote session at 10:00 AM featured renowned international speakers addressing global health, urban sustainability, and mental health.
    Prof. Romila Verma emphasized sustainable water futures, while Dr. Arun Pal highlighted ‘generational psychological fatigue.’
    Dr. Shabana Khan’s powerful remarks on gendered health rights drew attention to women’s issues in conflict zones.
    Other speakers explored spiritual, philosophical, and transnational perspectives on public health.
    A lively Plenary Session followed, focusing on participatory, culturally grounded health systems.
    Speakers discussed urban health challenges, ecological disruptions, and technology-driven equity in healthcare.
    Audience interactions raised themes like universal healthcare, digital ethics, and the inclusion of local healing systems.
    The Valedictory Session, led by Prof. Anu Kapur, urged geographers to engage deeply with global health discourse.
    The event closed with reflections, acknowledgments, and a final Tea Break for informal networking.
    Overall, the day reflected a holistic, inclusive, and globally conscious understanding of health.
