The Department of Urdu at Dr.Bhim Rao Ambedkar College came into existence on 2016 .The Department of Urdu offers a comprehensive B.A. (Prog) course in Urdu, covering both major and minor papers as per the NEP, 2020. Additionally, the Department also offers interdisciplinary (GE), skill-based as well as value added courses and  Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) ,across various departments. The core emphasis of the department is on familiarising students with the conceptual and applied essence of the discipline. Presently, the Department of Urdu comprises a Knowledge and passionate team of faculty members , having rich teaching experience as well as a wide range of research interests and academic specializations.

The department, believes not only in excellence in academic arena but also equal devotion to extracurricular activities such as debates, discussions, poster making, cultural activities etc. The Department has been very active in organizing seminars and symposia on issues of diverse interests. The participation of the faculty and the students on a regular basis in debates and discussions makes the Department dynamic and vibrant.
