Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at our college is deeply committed to cultivating academic excellence, emotional intelligence, and practical competence in understanding the human mind and behaviour. With a strong emphasis on socially grounded and culturally responsive psychology, we aim to equip students not only with theoretical insight but also with the real-world skills necessary to make a meaningful impact in both academic and applied settings. What truly sets our department apart is our highly experienced and multidisciplinary faculty. Our professors are not only renowned scholars, but also practitioners, researchers, and trainers with expertise spanning across numerous branches of psychology. This ensures that students receive holistic mentorship and are exposed to the diverse practical applications of psychological science.
Rooted in an interdisciplinary and inclusive approach, students are encouraged to explore vital domains such as Clinical, Social, Organizational, Developmental, Health, and Community Psychology. While core foundations are emphasized, we also remain attuned to emerging Indian and global paradigms in mental health and psychosocial support. Special focus is given to Applied Psychology, which allows students to directly translate psychological principles into interventions, policies, and community-based practices, making their learning impactful and action-oriented.
Our dynamic pedagogy transcends the conventional classroom. We uniquely blend traditional knowledge systems, modern psychological research, and lived experience to deliver education that is both innovative and contextually relevant. The department has forged strong collaborations with premier institutions such as IHBAS, AIIMS, Sangath, Youth for Mental Health, and international research bodies like King's College London through the METROPOLIS Mental Health Project. These partnerships allow our students to engage with real-world psychological challenges, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to cutting-edge research and mental health innovation locally and globally.
